In addition to Viewfinder Preview I have also written a darkroom timer app for the iPhone. I wasn’t happy with any of the timer apps currently available so I wrote my own. It allows you to build your own development recipes with individual timers for each stage of the process. Because I don’t want to be messing about with my phone in the darkroom it is designed to be simple to use (touch anywhere on the screen to start/stop a timer) and easy to see the current state of the timers at a glance. Version 1.2 of Viewfinder Preview is now available in the App Store. This is the second major update for the app. The main new feature to be included in this build is the new Journal view. This is an alternative to the film strip style Photo Gallery that is already available.The idea behind the Journal is to streamline the viewing of the data attached to photos and the editing of notes. Another minor version update was released today. This is to fix a crash bug plus a number of other smaller bugs.Fixed crash when taking a photo in rangefinder mode and zoomed out past extents of iPhone camera. One of the major new features in version 1.1 of Viewfinder Preview is film emulation filters. Selecting a film emulation in the Settings will apply a filter to the preview view to replicate the colour and tone characteristics of that particular film stock. Selecting a black and white film will give you a black and white view. The emulation is done through large colour look up tables.
